Stephen Romine Wins Full Acquittal for Tampa Cop Accused of Molestation

8/20/2009 5:13:42 PM

In 2005, Tampa police officer Ernesto Hedges was wrongfully accused of molesting two 9-year-old girls. Facing the minimum mandatory sentence of 25 years in prison, he sought the help of Cohen, Foster & Romine P.A.

Partner Stephen Romine accepted Hedges' case and performed a thorough investigation of all the facts. He introduced evidence that Hedges' previous lawyers had not given him an adequate defense. Not only was Romine successful in overturning the conviction, the judge agreed to give Hedges a new trial.

On Wednesday, Aug. 20, Hedges received a full acquittal by jury.  Hedges' trial team consisted of attorneys Stephen Romine and Rohom Khonsari along with their support staff, Legal Assistant Christy Emerson and Electronic Trial Specialist Steve Newman.
