John Knipper's position at Cohen, Jayson & Foster, is consistent with the philosophy at CJF that knowledge is power. John is particularly talented at conducting in-depth research on any subject that is peculiar to a particular case in the office. The cases we handle involving medical malpracitce, products liability, complex commercial litigation, premise liability, corporate criminal liability, and other areas of litigation usually involve factual development which requires an in-depth acumen of knowing where and how to obtain specialized knowledge. 

 

John has more than 20 years of experience in medical and legal research. His background includes authoring technical manuals at an engineering firm as well as spending more than 20 years involved in research in the area of insurance defense and commercial law. One recent case involving an insurer’s repeated refusal to cover a client’s disability illustrates John’s instrumental role in many of the firm’s matters. In that case, none of the client’s several doctors could pinpoint the cause of her disabling back pain, yet through exhaustive medical research, John established the cause as intermittent spinal cord dysfunction sustained in an automobile accident several years earlier. With the benefit of John’s report, the firm won substantial coverage for the client.

 

Furthermore, consistent with the firm's philosophy that knowledge is power, and consistent with John's background as a librarian for 10 years, John is responsible for the organization of the law library and the professional specialization of these books in multi-subject fields. It is imperative that the lawyers have this information available and John's presence facilitates the fact-finding process, increasing the probability of success because, once again, knowledge is power.
