D. Keith Thomas
Attorney
Mr. Thomas brings a varied background to his practice as a civil trial attorney. He is a graduate of Georgia Tech with an undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering. While his engineering career included employment at a research and development laboratory for the Department of Defense, Keith simultaneously developed and ran a wholesale business. After four years as a research engineer with the Department of Defense, Keith attended law school at the University of Florida, where he graduated with Honors.
Experienced in trial and multiple areas of litigation, Keith has represented clients in such varied areas as medical malpractice, wrongful death, auto and motorcycle negligence, trucking accidents and products liability cases. Keith’s education and practical experience as an engineer give Keith a unique resource among most attorneys when dealing with complex technical issues, such as issues confronted in products liability and trucking accidents.
Before joining Cohen, Foster & Romine, P.A., Keith was a principal in two other law firms focusing on plaintiffs’ personal injury, wrongful death and medical malpractice actions. Prior to owning his own firm, Keith worked for a prominent St. Petersburg firm predominately retained by insurance companies to defend manufacturers, business owners, or other parties sued for negligence, fraud or other torts.
Keith has been rated “AV” by LexisNexis Martindale-Hubbell, the company that has long set the standard for peer review ratings. “AV” reflects that Keith has reached the highest rating for ethical standards and professional excellence. Keith has also been recognized for inclusion in Tampa Bay Magazine’s “Tampa Bay’s Top Lawyers,” August 2010 edition.
At Cohen, Foster & Romine, P.A., Mr. Thomas will be practicing in the area of civil law.
