Jack M. Ross
Attorney

Jack Ross is an Attorney licensed in Florida, Maryland and the District of Columbia.   

Jack has lived in both the United States and in the State of Israel, and served as Academic Liaison to Ambassador Itamar Rabinovich at the Embassy of Israel in Washington, DC from 1993-1996. In addition, he served as a Special Assistant State's Attorney in Montgomery County, Maryland, and as an Associate Attorney at the law firm of Shulman, Rogers, Gandal, Pordy & Ecker, P.A., in Rockville, Maryland.  In the summer of 1998, Jack served as a Volunteer Foreign Law Clerk to the President of the Supreme Court for the State of Israel in Jerusalem, Justice Aharon Barak.

In 1989, Jack immigrated to Israel and later served an abbreviated military service for new immigrants in the Israel Defense Forces (IDF).  Accounts of his service are referenced in the book, Prisoners: A Story of Friendship and Terror (Knopf Press) by Jeffrey Goldberg, National Correspondent for the Atlantic. 

Jack has also been an Entrepreneur involved with developing businesses in both the United States and in the State of Israel.  In addition, Jack is a partner within a commercial real estate company in Trenton, New Jersey, which owns and operates commercial properties.

Jack also serves in various capacities within Tampa Bay area community organizations including as a Member of the Board and Vice President of the Tampa Jewish Federation; as Tampa Co-Chair and as a member of the National Executive Committee for the American Israel Public Affairs Committee [AIPAC]; as the former Tampa Chair for Israel Bonds and current member of the advisory board; as a member of the advisory board of the Tampa area Jewish National Fund [JNF]; and as Chair of the Tampa-Ashdod Committee on the board for Tampa Sister Cities Committee, Inc.

Jack is also a recurring guest lecturer at the University of South Florida’s Learning in Retirement Seminar Series, where he presents an analytic review of the Middle East Peace Process from the 1991 Madrid Formula Peace Talks to present. 

In 1993, Jack earned a Master of Arts in International Relations from the American University in Washington, DC, as well as a Juris Doctor, cum laude, from the Washington College of Law at the American University in Washington, DC in 1999. 

In 2005, Jack spearheaded the Tampa-Ashdod Sister City relationship, which brought the Mayors of Tampa, Florida and Ashdod, Israel together to sign a formal municipal bond within the Sister Cities International framework in June of 2005.

In 2005, Jack received the 2005 Hope Cohen Barnett Young Leadership Award for outstanding leadership in the Tampa area Jewish community.

In 2007, he received the 2007 State of Israel Commemorative Medallion awarded by the State of Israel Bonds in recognition of generous support of the nation and people of Israel.

In 2008, Jack and his wife received the Jewish National Fund Tree of Life Award presented in recognition for outstanding commitment to their community and to the State of Israel.

Jack was recently appointed a Member of The Tampa Bay Area Committee on Foreign Relations 2010-2011.

Jack is married to Dr. Sharona Ross, who is the Director of Surgical Endoscopy and Director of Minimally Invasive Surgical Fellowships, Founder and Director of the USF Women in Surgery Initiative and an Assistant Professor of General Surgery all at Tampa General Hospital/University of South Florida Division of General Surgery.  They have 4 children; Eran, Nicole, Stephanie and Justin.
